ISLAMABAD: The first batch of 149 Pakistanis evacuated from Sudan, where fighting between the army and paramilitaries has killed and injured hundreds, has landed in Karachi safely, citing the Foreign Office.
According to a FO official, the government’s first concern is the safe evacuation and return of all Pakistanis.
The Pakistani embassy in Sudan was in close contact with the 1500 Pakistanis living in Sudan and was providing them with all necessary services. The Sudanese embassy set up a WhatsApp group to keep in touch with Pakistanis who were told to stay at home.
It is worth noting that violence between the RSF and Sudan’s army erupted, derailing an internationally approved plan for a civilian democracy transition four years after Islamist tyrant Omar al-Bashir fell to enormous protests and two years after a military coup.
